‘The greatest sin of a country house is to
be narrow minded, predictable or even worse…dull.’

JUNE 2007
Castle Leslie, Ireland
Stately beauty reopened in July after
extensive restoration: Castle Leslie Estate, Glaslough,
County Monaghan,
Ireland.
Once known as a mildly eccentric and theatrically grand place to stay,
Castle Leslie has now been restored to its former grandeur, transforming
itself into a private Member’s Club. Members can book into the Castle
and treat it as their own personal country home. Age-old Irish hospitality
decrees that you get out the best bed linen, cook the finest food and
treat your guests like royalty. This tradition continues at the Club,
where you’ll slumber in royal splendour and experience country hospitality
with a flair for the unusual.
‘…we welcome manners, etiquette and darned-right
outrageous behaviour…’
Also opened this month: the Castle's Victorian Hunting Lodge, now
converted into a four-star hotel with 35 guest rooms, some with terraces
overlooking
the new state-of-the-art Equestrian Centre, all of which is set in 1000
acres of emerald green park land with its own mystical green lake. The
original kitchens now host The Cookery School, which is open all year
and run by award-winning Executive Chef, Noel McMeel, for classes of
up to 12 people. A Victorian Spa with original steam booths, offers organic
beauty treatments, while a Kids’ Club keeps the little ones busy.
JUST THE
PLANET’s Premium Members will be
eligible for a never-to-be repeated launch offer for
membership of the Castle Leslie Club.
