Technically, Tu Diabetes is a community of people touched by diabetes, but I prefer to think of it as the Facebook of Diabetics. Sign up and you’ll be given your own profile page, complete with photo, wall, and preferences. There are numerous forums and groups to join, and spaces to write blogs and upload photos and videos. Any diabetic question you ever had can be answered on this site, by other people dealing with the same issues.
2. The International Diabetes Federation - http://www.idf.org
Keep your finger on the pulse of what’s happening in diabetes all over the world. The IDF are committed to promote diabetes care, prevention and a cure worldwide, and they have a lot of really useful information, including facts and figures about diabetes.

A very human look at what being diabetic entails, from a Type 1 diabetic married to a Type 1 diabetic and with a Type 1 diabetic son. Funny, honest, and informed reading.
4. Sanofi-Aventis -

One of the world’s leading insulin providers, and the people who not only provide me with my insulin (Apidra and Lantus) but also funded part of this trip. Includes a section on their excellent community service work.

The home of Accu-Chek blood glucose meters, one of the best in the world. I use the Accu-Chek Performa meter, and Accu-Chek is one of the sponsors of this trip. The website has extensive resources for diabetics, from fact sheets about all aspects of diabetes, to meal plans, a recipe box and a carbohydrate counter. An essential stop for anyone with diabetes.
