The Luxe guide to Shanghai doesn’t mince its words: ‘Vibrant,
design-led 1920s starlet in shopping central, kitted out with kitchenettes and Bisazza mosaic bathrooms. Fab roof terrace and rock star penthouse suites.’ Need we say more?
As the sister hotel to the Philippe Starck-designed JIA Hong Kong, expectations were high when this discreet, 55-roomed, apartment-style hotel opened. But the reviews are consistent: great location, relaxed atmosphere and
world-class service. Comfort is never sacrificed for looks in its designer interiors and thoughtful touches abound, such as surround-sound music, iPod docking, complimentary wireless internet throughout, black-out curtains, a well-stocked mini bar, ironing facilities (how convenient is this?) and intelligent mood lighting controls. It also has a business centre, the 24-hour gym, and offers complimentary wine and snacks in the lobby lounge - a favourite meeting place.
