| Opened on Valentine’s Day, Josephine’s is now a favourite with Cape Town locals. Anyone exploring the National Gallery in the Company Gardens or St George’s Cathedral and needing a coffee fix should head down Adderley Street and take a quick detour to the right just after Spin Street.
The smell of Belgian coffee, exquisite pastries, irresistible cakes and confections will draw you towards the new Church Square Piazza where you’ll find an enchanting slice of Paris at the tip of Africa. Relax in this stylish eatery while bakers and pastry chefs create their sweet and savoury specialities in the open-plan, working bakery or browse and choose a beautifully wrapped gift.
Started by entrepreneur David Rwayitare and local art director Ian Martin, the pair have spared no expense in making sure that their croissants, breads and pastries meet high French standards. We love their site too: take a peek and find out about Josephine, an Amelie-like character who has a penchant for ‘stealing hearts, recipes and hotel teaspoons’. Catch a glimpse of her on www.josephineboulangerie.com.
